MUSIC EDUCATOR RESEARCHER LIFELONG LEARNER

Abigail Van Klompenberg is a PhD candidate in music education at the University of Kentucky. At UK, she teaches classes on music in the elementary classroom and serves as a university supervisor for music education student teachers. Abigail is a part-time lecturer at the University of Louisville where she facilitates the music education student teaching seminar. She also works with graduate students in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program as they prepare their capstone projects in music education.
Prior to graduate school, Abigail taught general music and chorus over the course of 12 years in Arizona, Texas, and South Carolina. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood, Vocal Music. She completed three levels of Orff Schulwerk training at Trinity University (San Antonio, TX). Her research interests include music technology, project-based learning, teacher mental health, and trauma-informed practices. In her free time, Abigail enjoys yoga, cooking, and spending time in nature. She currently lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband, Martin, who is a professional bassoonist, and her two rescue dogs, Sirius and Luna. |
