From 2017–2020, I directed the North Springs Elementary Cricket Chorus in Columbia, South Carolina. The goal of this chorus is to promote their love of music in the classroom, throughout the school, and out into the community. The ensemble performed at many school presentations for important times, such as Veteran's Day and Black History Month.
In December 2017, the NSE Cricket Chorus traveled to The Haven in the Summit, a local senior living facility for those who have Alzheimer's. It is essential to embrace the connective nature of music with musicians all ages.
Castle Hills Elementary Leader Chorus
From 2014-2016, I was the director of the Castle Hills Elementary Chorus, an ensemble of Fourth and Fifth Grade students, performed at Parent-Teacher Association meetings, pep assemblies, and Veteran's Day performances,
One of the students' favorite performances was a community outreach concert at the Brookdale Retirement Community (San Antonio, Texas). In addition to singing upbeat tunes for the residents and staff, students also visited the residents, giving small thank you gifts.
Collier Coyote Choir
From 2008 to 2014, I directed the Collier Coyote Choir. This group, comprised of sixth through eighth grade students, shared their love of music with the greater Phoenix Area. Every December, students visited the West Valley Hospital in Litchfield Park, Arizona. Doctors, patients, and community members enjoyed the ensemble's holiday cheer.
In addition to holiday performances, the students shared their talent with the community in Spring and Winter Concerts, Parent-Teacher Association meetings, and patriotic assemblies.
In the course my tenure at Collier Elementary, the chorus grew from twelve students to nearly one-hundred members.
